Meet Michael & Catherine Mason

Michael Mason was born and raised in Tyler, Texas and attended Baylor University, graduating with a BBA in Management and Marketing. Michael worked as a Landman in the oil and gas industry for roughly 8 years, but always had a passion to serve. Michael followed his passion to serve and joined the Abilene Police Department in 2017 where he worked as a Patrol Officer for several years. He ended his career there as a Detective in the Homicide and Major Crimes unit.
Catherine “Cat” Mason was born and raised in Abilene, Texas, attended Abilene Christian University and obtained a BS in Criminal Justice. Cat worked for the Department of Family and Protective Services prior to joining the Police Department in Abilene in 2015. Cat served in various roles at the police department, and she ended her career there as a Patrol Sergeant.
Michael is the perfectionist, handy-man, craftsman, and Cat has the vision for it all, along with a go-getter attitude. The couple can’t be stopped.
Michael and Cat’s journey with Made in the Shade started as customers. Their experience as customers drew them in, and sparked the desire to become a part of Made in the Shade. The seamless consultation, excellent customer service, and superior product are things that they will pass on to their customers.
Through prayer and patience, God began to open doors for them to move to Tyler, Texas, Michael’s hometown. The family wanted to be closer to family, but mainly wanted to bring a quality business to a hometown they know and love. The couple wanted to help others create spaces they will not only love, but will bring them financial value to their investment.
